By accepting membership in the GCSC Honors Program, an individual joins a learning community characterized by free expression, intellectual honesty, and respect for the dignity of others. In order to achieve the goals of the program, the community must be a tolerant and supportive one, characterized by civility and consideration of others. Therefore, the standards and expectations of this community are high regarding both academic performance and the quality of interpersonal relationships. It is the expectation of the Honors Program that all students be familiar with the guidelines of student behavior as outlined in the student handbook; moreover, since not all kinds of misconduct or behavioral standards are codified here, honors students are expected to show good judgment and use common sense at all times. Students who are disruptive to the learning community, regardless of grade point average, may be removed form the program at the discretion of the Director.
