General Responsibility
Assist Kids’ University director with work needed to prepare for Kids’ University. Work with children at Kids’ University and assist teachers or director.
Responsibilities
• Work under direction of the camp director and designated staff as part of camp team.
• If helping director prior to the start of Kids’ University, you will help sort and label items such as shirts, badges, and other supplies.
• If working in a classroom, you will be assigned to one or more teachers and will assist with all aspects of the class, including material set-up, helping students with activities, clean-up, escorting students to the restroom, and supervising students as they transition from one class to the next.
• If helping with registration and dismissal, you will make sure that parents/guardians sign their child in and out.
• Serve as a good example in personal language, behavior, and appearance.
• Observe student behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques as directed, or notify supervisor if behavior is excessive or harmful to the student or other students.
Qualifications
• At least 15 years of age.
• Enjoy working with young people.
• Strong work ethic.
• Good character/ability to make difficult decisions in the face of adversity.
• Ability to relate to adults of all ages, as well as to children.
• Flexible and able to accept supervision and guidance.
• Possess good communication skills.
• Must be willing to complete a free online mandated reporter training and submit certificate of completion. The training can be found at https://ar.mandatedreporter.org.
• Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.
