Overview: The TEACH Grant program awards up to $4000 per year to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who intend to fulfill a service agreement. The award is pro-rated for part-time status. The student must be enrolled as an education major in a TEACH Grant- eligible program. A list of St. John Fisher College TEACH Grant-eligible majors is available at

TEACH Grant recipients must sign an Agreement to Serve, committing to the following:

-serving full-time as a highly qualified teacher
-for 4 academic years within 8 calendar years of completing the program for which the TEACH Grant was awarded
-in a high need subject area.

If TEACH Grant requirements including the above are not met, the TEACH Grant is converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Student Loan, with interest accrued from the date the grant was awarded.

To qualify for the TEACH Grant, the student must first qualify academically based on one of the following standards: Admissions test scores: SAT of 1180 or above, or ACT score of 25 or above or Cumulative Grade Point Average: 3.25 or above.

IMPORTANT : If you are awarded the grant based on GPA (not test scores), you must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA cumulative GPA for every semester covered by the grant. The Financial Aid Office will check GPA prior to each term of the award period.

To apply for the TEACH Grant, please answer applicable questions listed below, and return the application to the Financial Aid Office. You will be notified of your eligibility. Thank you.

STUDENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: I understand that if I receive a Teach Grant, I must fulfill a service obligation. Failure or refusal to complete the service obligation, or to meet TEACH Grant requirements, will result in the grant being converted into a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loan. Interest will accrue from the date of the initial Teach Grant disbursement. Once the Teach Grant is converted to a loan, it cannot be converted back to a grant. I understand that I have up to 30 days from the start of each semester to request cancellation of the TEACH Grant for that term. *
