This position is an important position on campus. Resident Directors at MTSU are an essential component of the Housing and Residential Life Program. RDs are selected on the basis of the following criteria: (1) previous residence hall experience (2) academic achievement (3) leadership skills (4) interpersonal effectiveness and (5) the ability to serve as a positive role model for residential students.

RDs represent the university, have to have time management skills, act as a role model to their residents and those they supervise, and serve as an overall leader on campus. The RD position requires someone with a high degree of maturity, the ability to lead by example, and the ability to effectively communication with parents and students.
