Application for the Global Engagement Living Learning Community at ETSU

The ETSU Global Engagement Living-Learning Community (Global Engagement LLC) is home to students seeking to expand their knowledge of world affairs, issues, and cultures as well as to gain global learning skills and competencies that are increasingly necessary to navigate the complexities of today’s socities and workplaces. The Global Engagement LLC provides an enhanced educational experience for (primarily) any first-year ETSU student with an interest in global affairs and intercultural exchange, regardless of major or career path. Global Engagement LLC students live together while attending classes, networking, and exploring the world’s interconnections and opportunities right here on the ETSU campus. The Global Engagement LLC seeks to accommodate first-time, first-year students but is open to second-year students as well.

No GPA or ACT requirements exist to participate in the Global Engagement LLC. However, students must fill out the information needed below as well as respond a few short questions. Responses to these questions are needed to help the Global Engagement LLC Director better develop activities and events for students in this LLC. If you're uncertain about how to respond to any of those questions, that's perfectly okay. Not having detailed responses will not exclude a student from participating in the Global Engagement LLC. Application Questions for the Global Engagement Living Learning Community

Question 1: Do you have any particular academic or career-focused interests that relate to international issues or topics (for example, international affairs, world literature, global public health, international business, or foreign languages, among many other possibilities)? Briefly explain your interests. If you're not sure yet, that's okay too. Just write that you are uncertain right now.

Question 2: During your time at ETSU, where might you like to study abroad? Can you explain any particular interests about that location? Do you have any previous connection with that place, either by visiting it or other reasons? Do you have any interest in learning a foreign language? If you're not sure about any of this, that's perfectly fine. Just write here that you're uncertain at the moment.

Question 3: What interests you about participating in the Global Engagement Living Learning Community? Do you have any ideas about what you would hope to get out of this experience? And finally, are there any other things you would like to share about yourself that would help us get to know you a bit more prior to your move into the Global Engagement LLC?
