Rural Initiative for Training Administrators with Special Education Expertise Scholarship

We are excited to share that we were were awarded the Rural Initiative for Training Administrators with Special Education Expertise Grant (RITASEE) funded through the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs. The 1.25 million dollar award will allow us to provide scholarships through a competitive application process to at least 18 RITASEE Scholars over the next five years. This is an exciting season for our region and future Scholars.

As a part of the program, all Scholars will be enrolled in a P-12 Educational Leadership Doctoral concentration and will receive enriched curriculum, special education (SPED) seminars, and 270 hours dedicated to SPED Leadership internship experiences in schools, districts, and the community. Graduates of the Rural Initiative for Training Administrators with SPED Expertise will complete their doctorate degrees with specialized expertise in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating student and program performance in rural school setttings at an individual student, school, district, and state level.

We would like to invite candidates who are interested in pursuing their doctorate in education (Ed.D.) specifically Administrative Endorsement and School Leadership. Criteria for application include a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience for the Administrative Endorsment or a valid administrative license for school leadership.

The admissions process involves a formal review of each applicant’s materials by multiple reviewers, a zoom interview, and a campus visit when appropriate. A group consensus approach is used for making final admissions decisions. All scholars initially recruited will enter with the express intention of graduating within the program performance period.
