Natural Gas Service Worker Program Eligibility Requirements and Essential Job Functions Include:
• Class is 7 am - 4 pm, Monday through Thursday for 8 weeks at the both campuses of Lawson State Community College
• Must be 18 years old at time of application and have high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Submit to drug screenings
• Physical fitness that requires lifting equipment weighing 50-pounds or more
• Applicant is required to provide proof of his or her ACT score of 18 or better and within the last three years. If an applicant has not taken the ACT or does not have an ACT score of 18 that applicant is required to take the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessment. TABE grade equivalent of 6 or better is required in Math and Reading to be considered for the program
• Ability to earn Commercial Driver's License (CDL). The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires a physical before a Commercial Driver's Permit will be issued. Possible CDL health dis-qualifiers: epilepsy, kidney disease, narcolepsy or sleep apnea, color blindness, blind in one eye, must be able to hear all sounds 40 decibels or less, heart disease or hypertension, severe respiratory condition, loss of use of extremity, diabetes currently requiring insulin, congestive cardiac failure , pacemakers, orthopedic or vascular disease and psychiatric disorder; just to name a few
• Ability to earn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
• Ability to earn OSHA 10 Safety Certificate
• Program cost is approximately $3,400 plus cost of boots (Financial assistance and full scholarships are available)
