Eligibility Verification for Entitlements Act (EVEA)

The State of Tennessee Eligibility Verification for Entitlements Act (EVEA) requires public colleges and universities verify that anyone seeking a “state public benefit”
is a “United States citizen”, a “qualified alien”, or otherwise “lawfully present” in the United States.
A state public benefit includes in-state tuition, academic common market, graduate assistantship, tution scholarship, or any other form of tuition assistance or waiver supported with funds from a Tennessee government entity.

US Citizens – One document required from approved list. Most commonly used are a valid drivers license (New Mexico and Utah excluded), US birth certificate or US passport
Non-US Citizens – Two documents from approved list. Most commonly used are valid passport, I-20,DS-2019 and Permanent Resident Card (cannot use US drivers license)
