The student or Yale alumnus/alumna named above is being considered for the Yale-China Fellowship. Yale-China Fellows live in China for two
years, teaching English language and American culture and studying Mandarin or Cantonese Chinese. Fellows must be mature, independent,
and flexible to meet the challenges associated with living and working in China. Additionally, Fellows share living quarters and work assignments with
their Yale-China colleagues, so they must have strong interpersonal and cooperation skills. Please check one of the statements below and

Green Light: I have no reservations regarding the applicant’s plans to live in China for two years on Yale-China’s program. The candidate will
proceed normally through the application process

Yellow Light: I have reservations regarding the applicant’s plans to live in China for two years on Yale-China’s program. The candidate typically
will not be offered a fellowship appointment. In rare cases that may warrant an exception in Yale-China’s judgment, staff would consult further
with you before proceeding

Red Light: In my judgment, the candidate is not suitable for this opportunity. The candidate typically will not be offered a final interview. In
very rare cases that may warrant an exception in Yale-China’s judgment, staff would consult further with you before proceeding.
