Dear NMJC Foundation Heidel Scholarship Recipient:

Congratulations on receiving your scholarship!

***IMPORTANT: You must comply with the requirements below to receive and retain your scholarship***

Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better.
Official transcript must be sent to foundation@nmjc.edu at the end of each fall and spring semester in order to receive scholarship payment for the next semester.
Must maintain full-time status of 12 credit hours or more each fall and spring semester.
Submit your completed “Thank you” letter to NMJC Foundation by October 31, complying with the instructions on the following page.
Scholarship payments are made for assistance with tuition, fees, books, campus room/board and are paid directly to the qualifying University. (No payments are made directly to the student.) Any amount owed, above the scholarship amount, is the responsibility of the student.

Scholarships are to be paid for fall and spring semesters only, no summer courses will be paid.
Scholarship is renewable for up to four years of school (for non-NMJC graduates) and up to two years of school (for NMJC graduates), provided all criteria has been met.
Failure to maintain the required criteria above, withdrawal from school, joining the armed forces, behavior that results in expulsion or disciplinary action by the school, any attempt of fraudulent use of funds and/or any other reason at the discretion of a majority of the NMJC Foundation Board of Directors would be grounds to forfeit the scholarship.

PLEASE NOTE:

The University of your choice must be located in NM, otherwise the University must waive out-of-state tuition for Lea County residents.
Amendments or revisions to the criteria may be made by the scholarship committee, as deemed necessary, notification would be sent to the student recipient.
Any amount owed above the scholarship amount is the responsibility of the student.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO COMPLETE THANK YOU LETTER:

Formatting should include:
- Times New Roman, Calibri, or Arial font
- size 12 font
- one-inch margins
- double-spaced line spacing

Please see below the questions requested for you to complete in your thank you letter. Please write your answers in essay form. Each bullet “•” will begin a new paragraph (but DO NOT use bullets in your own thank you letter). The questions below each bullet, are to help you answer the top bullet topic.

At the end of your letter, please thank your donor. You must also print out and sign your letter in black or blue ink. Please remember you must leave space between the end of your letter and your typed name so that you may sign above your typed name.

Scholarship Thank you letter template questions:

How is your semester going academically?
- Are your classes difficult or easy this year? Please explain.
- Are you satisfied with your grades so far?

- What challenges, if any, did you face while attending your university? (This may include situations in or out of the classroom.)
- What was your biggest success this semester? (This may include situations in or out of the classroom.)
- What activities are you involved in? (This may include outside work/jobs.)

How will this scholarship help you?

The “Scholarship acceptance link” has an example of what your thank you letter should look like. It is not in English so that you may use your own ideas to complete your letter. It is simply an example of the format. It can be longer or shorter than the example, just so long as you are answering the above questions.
