Participant Application

Vision:

Program Overview

The B.U.C.S. Academy Program is designed to give entering first-time college students a solid foundation before they start their freshman year.

Students will jump start their college career with this 3-week summer program by earning three-credit hours in a required college course.

Students will continue to participate in a variety of educational, enrichment and entertaining activities with this program throughout the academic year.

Students are encouraged to participate in the QUEST and Preview programs the week before the Fall Session begins.

Program Purpose and Mission

To give students the confidence and skills to successfully transition from high school to college.
To familiarize students with East Tennessee State University and its support services and resources.
To teach classroom skills that will prepare students for college level courses.
To foster positive relationships with peers, faculty, and staff at ETSU.
To enhance critical thinking skills through self and career exploration and class experiences.

Important Dates and Requirements:

BUCS Academy Orientation:

June 14, 2024

Participant Move-In:

July 13, 2024

Program Dates:

July 14 - August 2, 2024

Housing Application for LLC:

June 1, 2024

BUCS Academy Participants are REQUIRED to complete all of the following:

Attend Orientation - identified for this program - June 14, 2024.
Attend the entire summer program July 14– August 2, 2024.

Enroll in the ETSU 1020 College Course - Summer Semester
Enroll in the CSCI 1100 College Course Fall Semester.
Submit required Health and Immunization documentation.
Apply for and complete all Housing Department requirments.
- Note: The BUCS Academy Living Learning Community (LLC) is located in the Lucille Clement Dorm.
- Note: Student will reside in the dorms and need to complete housing requirements during the program.
